Shameless Plug

If you live in Southern Maryland and you've never been to Abell's Diner, you should make the trip. As soon as possible. Located at the infamous 4-way-stop in Clements, Abell's Diner serves homecooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My personal favorite? Breakfast! Adrian and I are starting to become fairly regulars on Sunday mornings. We typically go to 8 o'clock mass than make our way out to Clements for a delicious breakfast. It's quaint and looks like it's right out of a movie, I would try and describe it in further detail, but I don't think I will do it justice. I can tell you, however, that they have the BEST coffee I've ever had in my life. And I am not even exaggerating. They put Starbucks $5 coffee to shame. What I wouldn't give for a cup right now on this incredibly slow Monday morning...

Happy [Belated] Love Day!

Ahh Valentine's Day. Such a Hallmark holiday, but one that I love every second of. This year, we spent Valentines Day in the point, relaxing and doing things we enjoy. Originally I was supposed to cook a romantic dinner for the 2 of us, but instead we ended up with this:

Take out from Happy Dragon and 'love cups' from Target. Honestly, probably a better meal than if I'd cooked myself. But this is very 'us'. Take out and a movie. It is what we love to do to relax, so it made for a nice evening. And I can't forget the special visitor (aka Bubba) I had on Friday at work who brought me these:

500 Days of Perfect Fashion

So during this winter BLAST we've been receiving over the past week or two, I got the chance to catch up on some of the Netflix movies I haven't been watching. And one in particular really caught my interest: 500 Days of Summer. The movie was definitely different from your typical romantic comedy, in fact it blatantly states that it is NOT a love story. But what really held my attention? Summer Finn's wardrobe. It is so vintage, but not flashy and cheesy. It is everything I have ever wanted in a closet. Ever. I've finally found the perfect description of the style that I would LOVE to rock every single day. Oh, and Tom's outfit's aren't to shabby either, if only I could get Bubba to agree with me on that one...

Blizzard of 2010

Never in my life did I think I'd have the chance to say I experienced a BLIZZARD. Seriously, a blizzard. Southern Maryland has been hit with more snow than we imagined and it just keeps on coming. We are supposed to start seeing flurries this morning, followed by an icy/wintry mix, topped off with a nice layer of fresh snow. Should make for a LOVELY sheet or 2 or 3 of ice tomorrow morning. All day tomorrow probably. Between working from home and trying to shovel ourselves out, I'm sure we'll be able to stay entertained.

Speaking of entertainment, want to know how we stayed entertained during the first blizzard on Friday and Saturday? Makeovers, lots of pictures, Malibu and pineapples, Rock Band and poker. OH and movies, god knows my Dad would never had made it through the long weekend inside without watching his all time favorite, "Cocktail".

Marci humored me, by letting me take her picture (several thousand times) this weekend as practice for the photography class I'm taking.

I also was able to get some nature shots at my Mom and Dad's house:

Community

Oh lord, it's already February. I feel like I've been failing as a blogger lately, but that's beside the point. I'm posting now and hopefully I'll be able to stay on top of things and post more often.

So it's February and it's FREEZING. St. Mary's County has been seeing more snow than I can ever remember us having. EVER. And we're supposed to be getting more this weekend. Hopefully it will stay north of us and our temperatures will stay high enough that it won't be too bad. But who am I kidding, even if we don't get the full impact, it will probably still be miserable weather.

On a lighter, more positive note: I am taking an Introduction to Digital Photography class through the local community college, CSM. My mom purchased this class for me as a Christmas present since she knows how much I love photography. And though the class has started off a little slow, I think it's going to be an enjoyable one. Though I have to admit, it does remind me of the new NBC show with Joel McHale called, "Community". If you haven't seen it, you should check it out, its very random, but pretty funny. And what makes it even more hilarious is when you can actually relate. I am 1 of probably 2 people in my class under the age of 30. MAYBE the only one, I'm not entirely sure. That in itself is a strange new experience for me. There are also such different personalities that fill the class, it really proves that NBC did its research with "Community" as it is spot on with all of the characters. So by the end of this 9 week course I'm sure I will have enhanced my knowledge of photography, and hopefully made some new and unique friends!

Our class requires us to take a different picture each week based on what we've gone over in class, new techniques we've learned, etc. and post them on our flickr account. I actually took 2 pictures for this weeks assignment, but decided to go with the Sunrise photo as my class contribution. BUT I'll let you see both of them :)
